Quick overview

Iron Will is an accessibility and consistency chest piece for MMRs, Rifles, and Pistols. In PvE, Resolved converts your next body shot to a headshot every 2 seconds; PvP uses a 3-second cooldown. It is worth testing when missed headshots or moving enemies break your rhythm, but it deliberately competes with traditional chest talents rather than replacing them in every high-damage build.

When to choose Iron Will

Play patternBest use
MMR or Rifle consistencyUse Iron Will when moving targets or input method makes body-shot conversion more valuable than a higher ceiling.
Pistol-focused buildUse it only when the Pistol's headshot conversion has a clear role in the build's loop.
Pure headshot-damage ceilingCompare against your existing chest talent; Iron Will trades some peak potential for reliable conversion.

Detailed route

What to do, step by step

Use this order when you are in-game. It expands the overview with the checks and choices that keep the route on track.

  1. Equip an MMR, Rifle, or Pistol before evaluating Iron Will; other weapon classes do not activate Resolved.
  2. Test the 2-second PvE cooldown in a repeatable activity and fire with a deliberate rhythm instead of expecting every body shot to convert.
  3. Compare consistent body-shot conversion against your existing headshot chest talent on the same difficulty and target type.
  4. Use a weapon and talent combination that benefits from an occasional guaranteed headshot, rather than attempting to reproduce old Determined chains.
  5. Recheck the 3-second PvP cooldown separately before taking the build into Conflict or a Dark Zone.

Key details

Before you commit

  • Ubisoft moved the body-shot-to-headshot functionality from Determined into Iron Will and states it can pair with Exotic MMRs or High-End MMRs using other talents.
  • Community feedback is split: some players value its consistency, especially on controller, while others prefer the higher ceiling of a traditional headshot chest. That is a build-choice trade-off, not a settled fact.
